I've been tattooing professionally for about 13 years now. I began painting with my grandmother at an early age in Mississippi. After moving to the west coast I eventually translated my painting techniques into a self taught tattooing style that I'm continuing to refine. For the last few years I've traveled quite a bit, working, and learning all across the U.S, as well as Switzerland, France, London and most recently the Rites of Passage Tattoo Convention in Melbourne, Australia. I enjoy tattooing colorful realistic imagery, portraits, feminine imagery, and freehand designs. In the future I hope to learn many more approaches to style and technique from all the amazing artists I have the good fortune of working with, and look forward to redefining my work in both painting, and tattooing.
I was born and raised on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. When I was younger, I never took art very seriously or considered it could be full-time career. The extent of my artistic prowess was doodling stuff in class and on books instead of doing what I was supposed to. I got my start in tattooing almost immediately after getting my very first tattoo. Once I understood the process of tattooing, I was hooked.
I volunteered as counter staff at a shop before securing an unpaid apprenticeship, then finally did my first professional tattoo in 2009. I recently relocated to Southern Oregon because of my wife's job. I was fortunate enough to meet fellow Mississippian Johnny Smith and joined the Sweetwater Collective team in March of 2016. Some of my favorite styles to tattoo are color illustrations, new school traditional, cover-ups and the occasional black and grey. However, I'm always up for new ideas and challenges to push my tattooing abilities into the next level.
My name is Ross Lloyd and I have been tattooing for 18 years. I recently moved with my family from Cleveland, Ohio to be closer to nature and to focus more on art (also mild winters!). I enjoy tattooing a variety of styles, especially Neo-Traditional and Japanese inspired art. I strive to create a customized work of art for my clients while creating a memorable and enjoyable experience.
As a child, I was bitten by a radioactive spider that gave me super powers. After the subsequent murder of my Uncle Ben , I devoted myself to using my powers to fight crime and protect society…Oh wait, this is my tattoo biography. Alright, lets start over. I was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I’ve always been drawn to strong, illustrative imagery, all things pop culture and tend to lean in a neo traditional, illustrative or realistic style of tattooing. I believe you’re only as good as your last tattoo and find tattooing to be an endless source of inspiration to push my craft and feed my artistic development throughout my life.
